A special wulong tea gift set featuring 3 rare creations - all handcrafted by Master Chen, one of our closest mentors in Taiwan, both personally and professionally.
Based in Mingjian, Nantou County, Master Chen is considered one of the pioneers of Ye Fang Cha 野放茶 in Taiwan — natural, cultivated agriculture with minimum human interference — without using pesticides, nor fertilizers. A third-generation tea farmer with decades of experience, who has trained dozens of producers across Taiwan, yet remains above all a humble, kind-hearted man of the land.
Master Chen is one of three masters we visit during our Taiwan tea tour, which is heading into its third edition this coming autumn. Meeting him is one of the highlights of the journey — a full day of guided tours at his farms and tea factory, culminating in a one-of-a-kind masterclass. He is one of the figures who shaped our understanding of Taiwanese natural tea the most, and helped us spread the difference between commercial tea and tea that respects people and the environment.
This limited-edition box includes 3 natural teas by Master Chen, each with its own distinct character:
Lightly Oxidized Jinxuan (Milky Oolong) – Spring 2023 (50g)
A clean, original, and high-grade version of the notorious Milky Oolong - a tea that has earned a poor reputation for its artificial flavoring and became synonymous with cheap commercial wulong.Lightly Charcoal-Roasted Jinxuan – 2018 (30g)
Harvested seven years ago and only now released, after delicate, alternating layers of roasting and rest, until it reached the final expression Master Chen envisioned.Single Roast Wuyi – Spring 2024 (30g)
An exclusive batch, our initiative to release it “as is” without further roasting. We purchased a small stock and let it rest as an experiment. Eight months later, it became one of the most unique and complex oolongs in our collection.Packed in a designed tin box and includes vacuum-sealed packs for each tea, steeping instructions, and a Taiwanese clip. A great selection of high-end Taiwanese natural wulongs teas by a true master. A limited edition gift set offered at a special price.
