A new batch of one of our favorites - Bai Gu Da Shan, a hybrid red wulong tea from north Nantou County, Taiwan. Autumn 2022 harvest, baked in late 2024. A semi-aged tea, double-rolled rather than traditionally folded, with a mineral and woody profile, slightly smoky in the first months after baking, finishing with a sweet and tangy aftertaste typical of black teas, and rich, round flavor complexity like wulong.
A unique sustainable tea farm in Taiwan, with whom we closely collaborate. Tea masters from all over Taiwan gather here to produce various teas according to their expertise. The farm's owner is responsible for several agricultural innovations in the field of natural, organic fertilizers that do not harm the environment, wildlife, or human health. The tea has been tested in our lab and found entirely pesticide-free.
The legendary summer 2019 harvest won the "Most Favorite Tea" award in our Winter 2023 (BTC-05) Blind Tasting Club. Since then, the producer has decided not to pick during summer, aiming to enhance and increase the autumn yield. A unique Gaoshan 高山 red tea with a distinctive profile, nothing less than a masterpiece in the hybrid tea category, grown at an altitude above 1,750 meters in northern Nantou. A pioneering tea in both high-altitude organic cultivation and the modern processing method known as "Tiao Hong" 條紅 (stripe red).
Also suitable for cold brewing. Limited edition.
